An amazing party for an amazing lady!

By Sunday night, the 10th, Mike was finished with Glacier and I flew in from Montana, via Spokane, to be scooped up at the airport on his way home, just in time work for two days, pack up again, and head to Chicago. On July 13, 2006 Mike's grandma Ruth Klein turned 100 years old!!! She's an incredible lady and we were able to get nearly all of the family (we missed you Steve, Tina, and girls) together to celebrate. We all had a wonderful time visiting, eating far too much cake, and meeting all sorts of extended Hevenor family memebers. On Grandma's actual birthday we celebrated with just the immediate family who had already congregated, a small cake, and a few little gifts. The main event was Saturday the 15th, an open house for extended family, friends, and fellow Plymouth Place residents followed by dinner with the family. What a success! Granty Linda you're awesome! Thanks for all your hard work. We enjoyed photo albums, stories, and some rather chaotic "everyone" photo sessions.

Our trip home was long and delayed and fairly typical of my experiences flying in-to or out-of the windy city. Arriving home at 4:30 with dawn lightening the sky and work to look forward to later that day...not my favorite. In fact Monday was spent in a sort of exhausted fog, but some of my students rescheduled and that made things easier. I crashed around 7:30 that night and slept all the way through til Tues when we woke up much refreshed and ready to be in the real world again.

So that's us in a very quick nutshell considering all the fun we've had over the past year. That time between New Zealand and our Kiwiblog and the wedding? Well, it was spent planning the wedding, working odd jobs to earn a little cash, and plotting the next moves. It was a great 6 months but far too long ago to write about here. We are back on the blog now though so info should be more up to date, and though perhaps not as exotic as our adventures of the last blog, we do have lots more fun planned (weddings, rafting, fishing trips, Shakespeare fests, etc. )

Stay tuned... Posted by Picasa
